Type the name Tosin Adarabioyo into Google and the first search recommendation that comes up has nothing to do with his profession. It does not say ‘Tosin Adarabioyo Manchester City defender’ or ‘Tosin Adarabioyo West Brom loanee’. What pops up instead is ‘Tosin Adarabioyo house’. That is because, in January last year, Mail Online published a story about Adarabioyo, then 20 years old, ‘splashing out’ on a £2.25 million Cheshire mansion even though he had ‘never featured in the English Premier League’. What the article failed to mention was that Adarabioyo had bought the house for himself and his mother, who had spent many years as a single parent bringing up her three children.
